The focus of the idea should be on improving the travel experience. We are looking for innovative ideas that make travel simpler, better, or more exciting – for you and for others. Think about a specific travel moment, and then re-imagine it.
This competition is open to up to 5 team members. We are targeting university students and early-stage startups, but any team up to 5 members with a brilliant idea is welcome to apply. The group should be able to independently deliver a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), and we suggest putting together a well-rounded team with members bringing different strengths and areas of expertise.
Simply complete the submission form with the following details:
- Information about the team, including roles and responsibilities for each member, nationality, and educational details.
- A detailed description of the travel moment you want to re-imagine, and why you chose that moment.
- A summary of your idea for that travel moment. You can also upload images, a URL to a video, or other supporting documentation to enhance or explain your idea.
The Emirates Group, GE, and Etisalat are reaching out to universities, incubators, entrepreneurial centres, and co-working spaces to seek out talented teams that are passionate about this challenge. We will accept online submissions from May 11, 2017 to Sep 15, 2017, and will judge ideas based on creativity, innovation, feasibility, and scalability.
We are looking for individuals with up to 5 team members, who will examine how a particular travel moment makes us feel - from home to airport to the skies. Submit an innovative idea to make travel for you and others simpler, better, or more exciting.
The top 20 teams will be enrolled in an intensive one-week boot camp that will train them through workshops on design thinking, financial modelling, marketing, and building an investor pitch. The culmination of these two weeks will be a pitch day, after which four teams will be chosen as winners.
Winners will receive a cash prize of up to AED 50,000, to be distributed at key milestones, and will be enrolled in the Intelak Incubator. The incubator, located in the heart of Dubai's innovation ecosystem - DTEC - will be a three-month program. It will consist of structured modules, mentorship, and office hours to support the continued development of each team's winning idea. It is important to note that the teams will retain copyright of their ideas.
At the conclusion of the program, the winning teams will be given the opportunity to pitch their ideas to Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists for potential further collaboration or even investment. They may also have co-creation or employment opportunities with the Emirates Group, GE, or Etisalat.
